Hey! Well, I guess my effort to consistently blog post here failed pretty miserably, huh. But now, I only have a couple weeks left of school, so lets try this again. In the past couple of years, both a lot and not much at all has changed. So, lets restart this blog with some catching up and bringing closure to previously started projects here. B40-8 #560 is complete! With the same attention to detail I gave to B30-7 #501, 560 got all the little warning labels and callouts she deserves. Being among the newest locos the B&CCS owns, 560 got fairly light weathering, with just enough grime and grit to give it some character, unlike its older GE brethren. Another completed project is the B&O Wagontop Boxcar. At the end of it's service life, this tired piece of equipment has taken a serious beating! Other updates include DCC installations in both GE locos, and in B&CCS 6858, the prototype for the railroad's paint scheme, sound as well. Other than that, everything else I've done is new to this page. Next post, I'll fill in some of the gaps as far as projects I've done since 2022, and hopefully I'll be able to remember to update this page regularly enough for it to become a running log of the model work I'm partaking in. Thanks for reading!

It's been a few weeks since I've posted on here, not because I haven't been modeling, but instead because I've been busy working on schoolwork between my modeling! First up, I got a whole bunch of D&H rolling stock, to expand my Northeastern roster, and stripped down a GP40 and B40-8 to get them ready for B&CCS colors. I also got a few flat cars to diversify what kind of rolling stock I have, and weathered them. For the first time I had ever tried weathering flat cars, I'd say they came out very well! I especially like the separately applied ACI Label Plates and chains! Going back to those D&H cars, most of them have been weathered as well. I am in the midst of weathering the gondola, and am yet to start the covered hopper, but the aforeshown flat car, the I Love NY boxcar, and the yellow gravel hopper are all well weathered for their ages. ...snd that leads me to the last piece of modeling I've been doing, those stripped down locomotive shells. The GP40, previously in a SSW scheme, had become BCCS 760... And the B40-8, which used to be in a BC Rail scheme, is now an unlettered and mostly painted BCCS loco, which still needs it's orange striping cleaned up a bit and and needs orange visibility stripes on the rear of the carbody. That'll be the end of the updates for now, hope you are all having a lovely summer, and I'll post when I get another chance!
Sorry I haven't posted on here in the past couple of weeks! I was busy finishing up the NEB&W's diorama for Walthers' National Model Railroad Build Off which was due Thursday last week! Our scene came out absolutely beautiful, and I'm so incredibly proud and happy with the club's work! As the summer goes on, I may not be able to always do modeling work every week, but I'll try to update whenever I do work on models this summer!
This week, I got a Fine N-Scale Products B&O Wagontop Boxcar kit from E-bay! I've always found the wagontops interesting, and while they were mostly out of service by the 70s and definitely the 80s, as the saying goes, my railroad, my rules! It was a very simple build. The brake wheel, roofwalk, and stirrups were all thin brass, and were easy enough to attach via bending and Gorilla Glue, and the 3d printed carbody was very clean, only needing a little bit of cleanup of "flashing"." The kit did not come with trucks or couplers, so I picked up a pair of MTL trucks and couplers, which cleanly fit into the holes in the kit's undercarriage.
The other project I've been working on is, as with last post, painting! I decided to get started on the RS-1's paint, with the basic colors of the scheme done. The paint job is a little messy, but I'm fine with it since I'll be doing more coats once I get the masking putty I've ordered, which I'll be using to deal with the sharp curves of my scheme, which I had a lot of trouble with on my RS-2! I'll be sure to keep updates on here! The final thing I've done this week is work on the NEB&W's Walthers NMRBO 2022 scene! With that, I'll sign off for the week! I'll be sure to keep updates rolling ! Have a good weekend!
I've been doing a lot of model work and painting this year, and I've seen some pretty good blogs around the web, so here I go! Hopefully I'll actually remember to update it! and weathered down. It was a fun job, including the first time I've added detailed decals like warning labelsand lighted number board decals.I'm very happy with how it came out, and if I get another Dash 7 I want to do some more heavy weathering, including burn marks from a blown turbo, since that particular effect has always looked very visually interesting to me. but it has a difficult scheme to paint, (shown here on an RS-2)and an Atlas B40-8 in BCRail paint that still needs to be stripped and painted.ON TOP OF THAT, I'm working on the Rensselaer Model Railroad Society's Walthers NMRBO scene in HO scale! So lots of modeling to go around!
